INJURED BOSTON DANCER'S FUND: Our sister USA DANCE Chapter in Boston told us about a couple of Boston-area dancers -- Adrianne Haslet-Davis, a dance instructor with Arthur Murray, and her husband, Air Force Captain Adam Davis -- who were injured in the second blast at the Boston Marathon. Adrianne lost her left foot, but vows to dance again.

What is USA Dance?

USA Dance, Inc. is a national, volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational organization serving as the National Governing Body for DanceSport (the competitive form of Ballroom Dancing) in the USA. The USA Dance Mission is to improve the quality and quantity of ballroom dancing in the United States. There are 170+ chapters and 25,000 members around the country.

Orlando Chapter Mission

To promote all forms of partner, lead-and-follow dancing -- known collectively as "Ballroom Dancing" -- including all Latin/Rhythm, Swing/Nightclub, Smooth/Standard, and

Country/Western dances.

Our Chapter has about 300 members and our activities include:

Monthly ballroom dance parties at the Bahia Shrine Ballroom on 3rd Fridays.
Outreach ballroom dance exhibitions for the
community, at schools, malls, senior centers, festivals, non-profit organizations' fundraisers, etc.
Youth financial aid programs, including sponsorship of College, High School and Youth ballroom dance programs.
Co-sponsor, with Altamonte Springs, of Special Needs ballroom dance programs.
Bi-monthly ballroom dance newsletter.
An unbiased clearinghouse of information on where to ballroom dance in Central Florida, as well as information on dance studios, instructors, group lessons and special events.
Co-Sponsor, with Lighthouse of Central Florida, of Summer Camp Ballroom Dance Program for the Visually-impaired.
Co-Sponsor, with Get Active Orlando, of Ballroom Dance Program for Minority/Disadvantaged Youth in Orlando.

The Orlando Chapter of USA Dance is recognized by the Community Foundation of Central Florida with a Reviewed Status in their validated knowledge base, allowing the community to make online contributions to us.
